ELLA VOS LITTLE BROTHER

Ella Vos’ debut single ‘White Noise’ was the highly-charged pop springboard that had this Californian artist off to a momentous start, topping the Hypemachine and Spotify Viral charts. In spite of her feathery, neatly cornered sound, which is the audible equivalent of falling into a freshly made bed, it’s trauma that has so far inspired Ella Vos’ emotive songs. For ‘White Noise’ it was post-natal depression, and for second release ‘Little Brother, it’s a car accident that nearly cost her younger sibling his life. That brush with total, unconquerable separation sparked an immense feeling of protectiveness in Vos as heard through her lullaby voice, “stay close, little brother.” Another feature of this track to remark on is that it’s noticeably more upbeat than her debut, perfect for celebrating the strength of familial bonds. Polished pop can seem devoid of tangible emotion, but Vos once again finds a way into our hearts, all the while hitting those idealistic notes. - HT
